County Hike In Carlingford Sunday 9th March
We are heading on our annual hike on Sunday the 9th March. This is open to both our Cub and Beaver sections. We are meeting at the Community Centre for 8.15am (Sorry for the early start on a Sunday morning but we must be ready to start out on the mountain path for 10 am). The transport is arranged by Coach and the Cost to cover the coach is 12 euro. We expect to be returning back to the Community centre for 4 pm.
Numbers attending Must be confirmed at the very latest on Friday the 7th otherwise you will have to make your own arrangements for travelling there and back.
The recommended basic kit for a safe and comfortable hike is listed below:
Recommended Hike Equipment:
○ Day Rucksack (small)
○ Warm Comforable layers of Clothes Not Jeans and absolutley essential that they wear their neckerchief
○ Rain gear with wet legs
○ Hat, scarf, gloves even if the day seems mild it will be colder in the mountains
○ Small, resealable water bottle
○ Spare light warm clothes in a plastic bag (e.g. socks, trousers, tshirt)
○ Strong hiking boots or good walking shoes (not wellies or runners anyone arriving with these will not be permitted to board the bus)
○ Plastic bags (for wet clothes)
○ Medications if required (e.g. inhalers)
○ Packed lunch, something nutritious (sandwich, fruit, bar)
○ Flask of hot liquid (soup, tea, hot chocolate etc.) (optional)
○ Emergency rations (e.g. dried fruit, nuts, chocolate)
○ Sun cream (ever the optimist but you never know !!)
Scouts are permitted to bring mobile phone if they have one but must keep them in their backpacks to preserve battery life for use in case of an emergency. But please We cannot take responsibility for them while on our expedition.
