Scouts - Camaderry Spring Hike - POSTPONED

Camaderry hike 600px

Scout Leaders road testing Sunday's route a few weeks before tomorrow's hike

THIS HIKE IS POSTPONED DUE TO YELLOW WEATHER WARNING. NEW DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY. The Winter hike is done and now it's time for our Spring Hike. In the fine tradition of the Irish Spring, the weather is expected to be very wet so full raingear with wet legs will be required. Scouts should also bring a packed lunch and some energy rich snacks. We will meet Sunday 3rd of March at 9am in the Community Centre car park. We haven't booked a bus and space in leaders' cars is limited so we will need parents to help out with bringing scouts to and collecting scouts from Glendalough.

A full equipment list is here.

Yours in Scouting,

Ashbourne Scout Leaders

Field tip to Malahide beach

DSC 0342

Scout trip to Malahide 2016

Friday 25th May, we're going to do a field trip to Malahide beach. This is a great opportunity to learn about wildlife on our own door step as we take a survey along the rocky shore. We will try to get started at 7.15pm because the tide is coming in. We will meet in the Malahide Beach car park (opposite the Island View hotel) directions here. Parents can collect from same at 9pm.

Depending on how we do with the tide we may cut short the rockpooling and look out for sea birds instead. Scouts should have a wind cheater and wellies or old shoes with good grips (we'll be on rocks). The following equipment is optional but might make the trip more interesting:

  • A magnifying glass
  • A bucket or specimen jar (please no glass)
  • Binoculars
  • A small catching net
