Hello all, as usual we'll be marching in the Ashbourne St. Patrick's Day parade. Cubs will meet in the Lidl car park at 2.15pm, Fri. March 17th. Beavers, Scouts and Ventures will meet in the playground on Bourne Ave / Ned Nulty's lane at 2pm. All should dress in full uniform. The weather forecast isn't good so we would recommend bringing a raincoat in a backpack just in case.

Djouce 300px

Views of Djouce from Maulin

Scouts will undertake the scenic Maulin hike this Sunday 6th. This hike takes in breathtaking views of the Wicklow and Dublin hills as well as the majestic Powerscourt waterfall and is suitable for all levels and abilities. We will practice some skills along the way and have some fun so no matter whether you are beginner or advanced there will be something in it for you.

We will meet at the Community Centre cark park at 9.30am to drive in convoy to the starting point which is Crone Woods car park. We aim to start from there at 10.30am. Dress warm, pack wet gear, hiking boots (not wellies) and bring a packed lunch. Basic hike equipment list is here. We expect to arrive back between 3pm and 3.30pm.

Map to Crone Car Park. Some lifts may be available by private arrangement with the leaders. Talk to us after the Friday meeting if you are interested in taking that option.

Kind Regards,

Your Scout Leaders

Hiking Mullaghcleevaun Sun. 15th May

Mullaghcleevaun 400px

Scouts from 6th Meath Wild Camping @ Mullaghcleevaun

The Friday 13th we cannot use St. Mary's school. Optionally Scouts going on the hike Sunday can go to Declan's house, 11 Alderbrook Heath at 7.30pm instead. There we will do some prep work for the hike and build hot air balloons.

This Sunday 15th of May the Scouts will hike Mullaghcleevaun. This is a hike that takes in some fantastic views and will be used to develop navigation skills across trackless mountain country. As such it is an essential hike for anyone looking to increase their hill walking skill level.

Equipment list is here. This area can get muddy in some places so gaiters are recommended. Bring full wet gear and a packed lunch.

We will meet in the car park of the Ashbourne Community Centre @ 9am Sunday 15th, departing shortly after. Lifts with Scout Leaders must be arranged by prior agreement, anyone without a lift organised may need to have a parent drop and collect.

Directions to the start/end point are here.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

The Scout Section Leadership Team
