Want to know more about why this is so important to us? Read on:

We want our youth members to have an experience of Scouting which is enjoyable, healthy, safe, physically and mentally stimulating. Your annual subscription funds the Scouting Ireland insurance, day-to-day expenses of running the weekly programme such as renting of premises, training leaders and buying supplies needed for weekly activities. It also subsidises a number of other activities such as pioneering weekends, go-karting, ice-skating, bus hire etc. All the leaders are volunteers, ordinary parents like you, giving their time, preparing and running the meetings each week. Many of the leaders also take annual leave from their employment, as well as giving of their time at weekends and evenings to bring scouts on camp and run other ad hoc scouting activities.

The funding of more “infrastructural” or strategic items requires additional support. And this is where YOU, the parents and friends of Ashbourne 6th Meath Scouts can help. If you can spare just 1-2 HOURS of your time next weekend to support our bag pack at Dunnes Stores, it will go a long way to making this funding opportunity a success. If you cannot support us next weekend, maybe you can suggest, support or organise other fund raising initiatives to maintain and develop scouting in Ashbourne.

With the proceeds from last year’s bag pack we were able to replace 10 year old tents with fantastic new ones which the scouts fully tested on the Annual Scout camp last August. These contributed to a more enjoyable experience for those lucky enough to use them, given the (not atypical) damp weather.

The proceeds from this bag pack will be used to buy:

  • Additional tents, similar to the ones we bought last year, which are needed to accommodate the growing numbers in all sections, particularly cubs. Simply put, we do not have enough tents to bring our cubs on camp!
  • Spars, rope and other equipment for scout engineering and pioneering projects across all sections.

So, how about it? Just 1-2 HOURS to help make your child’s scouting experience more enjoyable.

If you can support, please select your preferred timeslot(s) from the list in the Doodle Poll link above. There is a mixture of 90 minute and 2 hour slots available throughout Friday May 15th and Saturday May 16th

Thanking you in advance for you help.
