This will be held in the Aughrim St. Scout Den on Friday 8th April at 8pm. We will meet in the Community Centre Car Park at 7.15pm. It will cover knife safety as well as some more advanced whittling, carving and knife work skills. The guys giving this course really know their stuff so this is an opportunity not to be missed. Lifts will be by prior arrangement with Venture Leaders. We will be joined by Ventures from Kells and possibly Ratoath. All materials, programme and instruction will be kindly provided by Ben and Stephen of 9th/10th Dublin Aughrim Street Scouts.
Scouts and Ventures are planning to join the County Hike of Slieve Binnian, in Northern Ireland on Saturday March 19th. This will be an early start so we expect to be leaving Ashbourne 7.30am. Please assemble in the Community Centre car park shortly before 7.30am. RSVP essential. Lifts with leaders are first come, first served.
Transportation will be by arrangement with leaders who are going. Please contact your section leader with expressions of interest. There will be a cost associated with this hike due to transportation to Northern Ireland. We expect this cost to be €10.
Slieve Binnian is a spectacular mountain with commanding views of the Silent Valley and surrounding peaks. This is a relatively challenging hike (classified medium winter hike) ideal for those looking to gain higher levels in the Hill Walking badges. It includes steep ground and will require some scrambling. Scouts should dress for winter conditions with hat, gloves, scarf and full wet gear including wet legs. Scouts should bring a packed lunch, flask of something warm, emergency rations, compass and bivvy bag. As always, strong footwear is advised.
Rovers have organised "football golf" and have kindly invited the Venture section along. We will meet at the Community Centre, Saturday 6th of Feb. at 9:45am. The event will take place in Howth. Bring wet gear and warm clothes. Ventures may bring a snack and packed lunch or money to buy food in Howth. We will buy ice cream and go for a walk along the pier if weather allows. Cost is €15 / head which includes transport, football golf and an ice cream or pastry.

Ventures will be going on a Backwoods day on Mar 5th, in Larch Hill. We will meet at 9.30am on Saturday morning 5th of March in the Community Centre. €15 / head including food, materials and activities. Transport to/from Larch Hill by prior arrangement with Venture leaders Suzie Rafter and Damian McGrath.

The Ventures and Rovers will Hike up Djouce from the car park near the JB Malone memorial. Meet at the car park Sunday 31st at 10.45am. Alternatively Ventures and Rovers can get a lift by prior arrangement with the leaders, meeting @ Community Centre 9.30am.
